CPSM Leads ICMA Webinar on Partnering with Police Departments

The Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) co-founder and Principal Leonard Matarese led a webinar for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) on January 25, 2018. Titled “Asking Police Chiefs the Right Questions to Make Data-Driven Decisions,” the presentation was geared towards helping local government managers in partnering with their police departments.

Leonard has hosted this webinar numerous times in the past, as part of CPSM’s partnership with ICMA. The webinar delves into the data that cities should review to make informed decisions about their police department, as well as analyzes how effective the existing measurement structures really are.

Originally created as a group within ICMA, CPSM was launched in 2006 to provide support to local governments in the areas of police, fire, and emergency medical services. As the group grew, it was spun out as a free-standing organization during ICMA’s 2014 restructuring. Today, CPSM and ICMA benefit from a close partnership whose goal is to support local government leaders throughout the country.

CPSM will continue to lead such webinars to assist cities and counties in reviewing their police department workforce allocation. If more direct review and analysis is desired, please contact the CPSM team for more information.
