Two New Data Analysts Join CPSM

The Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) is happy to announce that Dr. Xianfeng Li and Leah Balter have joined the team as data analysts. Li and Balter will work with Director of Quantitative Analysis Dov Chelst to assist public agencies in reviewing their public safety data and make recommendations for improvements.

Li is a professional computational scientist and certified SAS programmer with a wealth of knowledge and research experience in complex system modeling, data analysis, and statistical physics. He previously worked as a Research Associate at Clemson University. Li earned his Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Polymer Science within the Institute of Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Jilin University in Changchun.

Balter has a background in applied mathematics. Balter has strong written and oral communication skills, and is an adept multitasker with high attention to detail. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

“Xianfeng and Leah are exciting additions to the CPSM team,” said Chelst. “I was impressed by their previous work and their clear affinity for the subject. I know that both will help us make the right data-driven decisions for public safety programs throughout the country. I look forward to their continued growth as data analysts.”
