CPSM Attends 2018 ICMA Annual Conference

2018 ICMA Annual Conference

As the exclusive provider of public safety technical assistance for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) attended the 2018 ICMA Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The conference ran from Sunday, September 23 through Wednesday, September 26.

CPSM Principals Leonard Matarese and Thomas Wieczorek and Senior Associate Jack Brown hosted a booth on the Pavillion floor to meet with ICMA members and conference attendees. Prior to the conference, Matarese and Wieczorek presented on Saturday, September 22 a workshop titled “Asking Your Police and Fire Chiefs the Right Questions” for ICMA University. Wieczorek additionally hosted a session on Emergency Management on Tuesday, September 25 from 10:15 – 11:30 a.m.

The ICMA Annual Conference is the largest gathering of local government professionals in the world and offers an abundance of educational, information-sharing, and networking tools to help local government management professionals manage their communities in today’s complex environment.

CPSM provides training and research for ICMA’s members and represents ICMA in its dealings with the federal government and other public safety professional associations, such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police, International Fire Chiefs Association, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Police Executive Research Forum, International Public Management Association for Human Resources, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), National Fire Protection Association, and others. CPSM also represents local governments at the federal level and has been involved in numerous projects with DOJ and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
